Blue bedroom - sininen makuuhuone

Blue bedroom
We had yesterday,  and continuing today, a photoshoot on-going in our house, which will be sold in Sweden. Empty, as I couldn't figure out how to keep all corners tidy and nice during the process. As Paulina was shooting away, I thought to dig out my small camera and save some images.

All inspired by the Bagua again, thought to swop some textiles in our bedroom and make it cool for the summer season! I LOVE the look and feel of these Fabric Copenhagen silk and velvet (made in Vietnam, of course...) cushions and blankets. Blue can be a bit difficult in a bedroom, where it is supposed to be warm and cozy, but this warm petrol or denim tone really works. the windows are facing south, so the light coming in is also warm.

The harem mirrors I've got from Turkey as a farewell present - you have them on the wall face down, the pretty side visible, that is. They are one of the most precious 'treasures' in our home <3.

Meillä on kuvaukset meneillään Ruotsin kodissa, koska joudutaan myymään talo tyhjänä.

Kuvassa olevat haaremipeilit sain joskus aikanaan Turkista läksiäislahjana.

Feng shui Bagua map

White orchid

Here we go again! Feng Shui, and Feng Shui Bagua map (Feng shui Bagua map - Feng shui Bagua kartta), to be precise. I've bought the first book on the subject in 1998 (that would be last millennium...), and after that Feng Shui has always been part of my home decoration, sometimes more, sometimes less.

How to use the map (a very, VERY simplified version)? You put the map (at least on your mind) on top of your apartment, a floor of your house, or even a room, and make sure that the space, or at least some parts of it, symbolize the mentioned aspects of life. (I will go through each one of these during the spring and summer, please comment!)

Why? On the base of Feng Shui is the thinking that a good life equals a balanced life. The inner balance is easier to achieve when the things you see around you are balanced. You feel good, when you look around you. Feel-good home creation, you know ;)

Of course the basic home decor 'science', or whatever you would call it, has very similar principles:

-Less is more
-Use contrasts (both soft/hard objects, glossy/matt surfaces, rough/smooth textures, dark/light colors, soft forms to soften the hard corners...)
- the larger the surface, the lighter the color
- Get rid of 'stuff', and organize the 'stuff' that needs to be held in the house away and keep the doors closed
- Don't over decorate - don't 'suffocate' your home. Let it breath. Make sure there is enough space to go around and that it is easy to access every room

I put the Bagua on top of our top floor and realized - there actually should be blue in our bedroom. Okay! Tomorrow in the blog...

And - I don't even live in the house yet in Finland, but had to make some blue arrangements there already during the 1-day-trip I just took. That would be my previous post ;). Yes, my posts are sometimes a bit tangled, I apologize ;)!

Hurahdinpa taas kerran tähän Feng Shuihin, ja tarkemmin Baguaan, eli Feng Shuin ‘karttaan’ (Feng shui Bagua map - Feng shui Bagua kartta).

Feel-good home creation, you know ;).

- Less is more

Ahaa! Nykyisessä makkarissa pitää olla sinistä. Selvä. Huomenna blogissa!

Mutta siis tuo edellinen postaukseni, jonka eilen laitoin, oli tämän samaisen lentomatkan tuotosta, josta mainitsen. Suomessa sitä sinistä kaivattiin eteiseen. Riikan julkaisut on välillä vähän solmussa, antakaa anteeksi!

All season's table - Vuodenaikapöytä

Blue interior - sininen sisustus
This great idea came from the presentation of Add Simplicity at the 'stora bloggdagen' a couple of weeks back - have a 'season table' in your entrance hall! I absolutely love the idea! Of course you do it kind of automatically, as well - but usually in the living room or in the kitchen - self-picked flowers for the summer, pumpkins for the fall, something red and candles for Christmas, bright tulips when waiting for the spring...

But this is there to welcome your friends and family to your home! I put the Feng shui Bagua (more about that still this week!) on top of the entrance floor of our new home in Finland, and the entrance is in the WATER -area. So it is blue (surprise ;)) that is welcoming our guests (or construction guys) this summer.

Tämä ihana idea tuli Add Simplicityn Jannicelta (eilisessä postauksessa muuten ihana idea pimeän portaikon uusimiseen!) stora bloggdagen :ista Tukholmasta pari viikkoa sitten - vuodenaikapöytä eteisessä! Ihana idea!

About blogging and chasing your dreams - bloggaamisesta ja unelmien toteuttamisesta

Feng shui in home decor - Feng shui sisustus
Really wanted to post this in the morning, but a soccer cup and a laser game birthday party were keeping me busy until 2 p.m...And now it is still so beautiful and sunny out here on the terrace that it is hard to see what I'm writing. Life's small (quite nice) challenges :)!

A wonderful, inspirational 'stora bloggdagen' was organized yesterday in Stockholm. A great big thank you for the main organizers Bromans Bravader and Titta in hos Tess. The program of the day was really built professionally for us, who are starting blogging (or like me, struggling to find our way).

The day was started by Malena behind Malenami - a life style blogger, selected as the blogger of the year 2012 in Finland among the blogs in Swedish. She really, really is a darling :)! Her smile could melt icebergs. She is so sincere and so herself, you can't but smile when listening to her story about how her blog came to what it is today. BE YOURSELF AND BE POSITIVE.

Then we heard from Jannice - if you are following interior discussions in the internet, you will run into her blog and business Add Simplicity sooner or later (rather sooner, that is). I admit - I wrote 3 pages of notes. She is so FUNNY, so talented, and a great lecturer. A true pleasure to listen to her. Rather than focusing on blogging itself, she was discussing the content she is creating, and the actual process how she came to focus on Feng Shui in home decor. Myself a long-time Feng shui enthusiast, I guess one could call me, this was really, really inspirational. I will be returning to this subject a number of times, as there were so many nice, small ideas in her presentation that I just have to share them with you! Weranna's style, of course :). Lot's of home decoration expected during the coming weeks for me :). FOCUS ON WHAT YOU REALLY FIND IMPORTANT.

Last, but not least, the wonderful, wonderful Maria with her blog M.ade b.y m.ary. She was one of the very first bloggers I got to meet in Sweden last year, and I really didn't know anything about her background. One thing is for sure - she is amazing. With all the challenges she has faced she has been able to build her dream and become one of the largest baking bloggers in Sweden. Kram Maria <3! EVERY DREAM CAN BE ACHIEVED AND EVERY DREAM IS AS IMPORTANT.

There. 3 quite important lessons to be learned :). Starting yesterday.

Päivän aloitti Malena Malenami :sta, life style bloggari, joka valittiin vuoden 2012 suosituimmaksi suomenruotsalaiseksi bloggariksi.

Weranna's tyyliin tietysti ;). Jos luette ruotsia, Jannicen tähän asti 10 osaa käsittävä Feng Shui koulu löytyy täältä. KESKITY SIIHEN, MIKÄ SINULLE TODELLA ON TÄRKEÄÄ.

Viimeiseksi kertoi oman tarinansa ihana Maria M.ade b.y m.ary -blogin takaa. Maria on yksi ensimmäisistä bloggareista, joita tapasin viime vuonna Ruotsissa, enkä koskaan ole tiennyt hänen tarinaansa. Yksi asia on varma - tämä daami on ihan uskomaton. Kaikista haasteista huolimatta hän on pystynyt rakentamaan unelmansa ja on tällä hetkellä yksi Ruotsin suurimmista leivontabloggareista. Halaus Marialle <3. JOKAISEN UNELMAN VOI SAAVUTTAA, JA JOKAINEN UNELMA ON YHTÄ TÄRKEÄ.

Semmoista. 3 aika isoa asiaa opittavaksi. Aloitin eilen.
